Competitive Velo Team Kits (part 3)

Author Well, the day that every cycling team waits for is nearly upon us… Our team kits will arrive tomorrow.
Even though the process with our new clothing manufacturer, VOmax, has been flawless and they are delivering a day ahead of schedule, our riders are chomping at the bit to get into these kits. I am getting emails every day asking: “Are they here yet?”
I must admit, I am impressed by the service, professionalism, quality, and follow-up from the folks at VOmax… and so far, can highly recommend them to any organization.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to take a minute to let you know that our team fit kit from VOmax has arrived at Chain Reaction Cycles. For those of you planning to join the team, please stop by the shop as soon as possible and verify your kit sizes and fill out a uniform order sheet.
2012 Cycling Team Uniform Order
If you have not filled out a team application yet, please print and fill out a Team Membership Application and leave it with Mark Tatum at Chain Reaction Cycles in Prattville. I cannot place your order if we don’t have a membership form on file.

As stated previously, I plan on providing cat 1/2/3, experts, and masters two kits, cat 4 and sport with one kit, cat 5 and beginner will need to buy their kits (at cost of course). You are more than welcome to order more that what I provide at your cost, but you must pay at the time of order, by cash or check made out to Competitive Velo. If I don’t have the money, I will not order clothes. Sorry but no exceptions.
The order form has an item and price list for you to choose from. The team will cover the cost of shipping for everyone. If you need equipment like shoes, socks, gloves, helmets, etc., remember that our Specialized sponsorship gives us 20% OFF WHOLESALE! Specialized makes some mighty fine equipment and I am really stoked about this deal. Check with Mark for details.
I should be getting our first proofs back from VOmax any day now. We will need to put our first order together as soon as possible so please don’t hesitate to get the above things done. Once we get our order in, it will be 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Competitive Velo for 2012
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to reach out and let you know our plans for the 2012 Competitive Velo-Chain Reaction Bike Team. Mark Tatum from Chain Reaction Cycles and I have been working through the details and it looks pretty good.
From here on out, Mark and I plan to operate the team as a Competitive Velo-Chain Reaction cooperative effort. With the shop’s added direct involvement, it will be much easier for us to keep things running smoothly.
Our objectives are to maintain a “Shop Team” with active and motivated bike racers that is manageable and consistent, with goal of once again being Alabama’s premier cycling team and a major force in the south central region cycling community.
By “Shop Team” I mean a team of riders who are STRONGLY affiliated with Chain Reaction Cycles. The team will consist only of local folks because the expectation is that all team members will have a vested interest in the team, the shop, and the success of both… and will be called upon at some time to lend a hand with team activities.
As for sponsors, of course Chain Reaction is, and always has been a big contributor in more ways than just finances, but we have also secured a title sponsor with ResQSoft Inc. ResQSoft is an outstanding IT company and some of the best folks with whom I have ever worked. Chris Woods and Mark are working on a few others, but as of today, Bruce Herbitter and OSI Buildings Inc. have committed sponsorship for the 6th year in a row! Bo Potter from Midstate Advertising & Signs has also committed to their second year of sponsorship for the team. We also have Specialized as a sponsor for merchandise… sweet!

2011 Alabama Mountain Bike Championship Series
This is biggest news for Mountain Bikers to come around in a long time… Alabama will have it’s own MTB Championship Series promoted by About-Time-Events.
The schedule is as follows:

After Christmas Blended Ride – Walnut Creek, Clanton

More Info: This is a 35 mile blended ride that is mostly on Chilton County dirt roads. There is about 7 or 8 miles of pavement and rest is graded dirt. This ride is ideally suited for Cyclocross bikes, but MTBs will be fine. Definitely no road bikes. Since the dirt roads occasionally have some sharp gravel, I don’t recommend tubulars… you could have a long walk. The pace will be social but there is a good bit of climbing. This 35 miles feels more like 50.
